5-star hotels in Austria are somewhat sparse in quantity but we’ve found a hidden gem in Schlosshotel Velden. Housed in an elegant former palace on the edge of lake Wörthersee, this hotel provides true luxury from start to finish.

There’s a choice of two restaurants, the award winning Schlossstern in the main hotel and the less formal Seespitz Restaurant which is situated directly on the lakeshore. Guest are also invited to make use of the Beach Club with its large outdoor pool, room for up to 80 sun loungers and 5 luxury cabanas.

Velden is 1 hour 45 minutes transfer time to the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. We recommend flying into Klagenfurt Airport, which is just 20 minutes from the hotel.
